A Day to Remember...

Take a moment today to call/ email/ or write Grandma Lil. Long ago today was her wedding anniversary. I wonder what it was like...obviously cold! I am sure glad it happened though! Where would we have been if she married, say, Bob Hope! We'd all have funny looking noses that is for sure. I am sure you miss your best friend, Grandma. Please know that we love you with all our hearts and I know that Grandpa Holly is thinking of you today and sends helping, loving hands to always be with you. Cheers to you!

поздравляю! Congratulations!

S dnem rozhdeniya! or Happy Birthday to Nick in Russian! Is there as much snow in Wisconsin as there might be in Russia on your birthday? We are glad to have a guy like you in the DeMeester Family. Those Ramptons are good people! Enjoy your day and have Angela make you your favorite meal... maybe something with a Russian flare?! We thank you for your infectious smile and your willingness to always serve.

23 Cheers!

Raise a glass to Ellesse today as we all celebrate her birthday. Maybe watch the movie 'Clue', or 'Kite Runner', 'Amelie' or 'Everything is illuminated' and think of her... Listen to Coldplay, or something else from her 'bizarro music playlist'. Go see the play 'Light in the Piazza' and relax.

We love her and I can't imagine life without her. I know she has saved my life especially when I was really sick. I am thankful Heavenly Father sent her to us.

Happy Birthday, Ellessie!

Go, Go Elder T. DeMeester!

Yahoo for Elder Talmage DeMeester! He is headed to the Belgium Brussels mission Dutch Speaking (IF YA AIN'T DUTCH, YA AIN'T MUCH!) The DEMEESTERS are comin' home! (Well pretty darn close...) We are all proud of you Talmage for holding on and staying strong. Keep it up and we will all come over for a DeMeester Reunion old school in 2 years... I'm sure Grandpa Holly is smiling...

Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men.
Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day.
Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work;
For behold the afield is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul;
And faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work.
Remember faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence.
Ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Amen.
Doctrine and Covenants 4

“The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done” (History of the Church, 4:540)

Lest We Forget

I hope you all were wearing your poppy and thinking of those who paid for our freedoms. Rest in Peace Grandpa Holly. Elliott and I made a wreath out of 'homemade poppies' and put them up at the war memorial in our park.

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Prayers and Temple Attendance!

November 7th has been cited as the day Grandma Lil goes in for surgery for her hip and leg. If we can all make sure to say our prayers for her to heal quickly and all to go well... I'm sure it would be appreciated. If you live near a temple... hey going there is great too! Maybe hold a family fast! We love our Grandma Lil and thought by 'getting together as a family' to do this on her behalf will be good medicine!

Newest Citizens...

The United States of America just gained 2 new citizens in the Hargreaves Family. After over a year of waiting and 'process' Justin and Alison are American Citizens. Canada will be our Motherland (and maker of the best slurpess etc.) but the U.S. is now our homeland. And just in time for the elections!!!! ... and Dan made sure Alison wasn't crossing her fingers when she took "the oath". My heart will always be with Canada, but my little family is now in the U.S... and that is where I will be.

Rise and Shout!

The Cougars are out!

The DeMeesters and Mohameds went to the BYU-UW game on Saturday. Shawn was a little conflicted because he attended both schools but the rest of us were cheering for BYU (as was 1/4 of the stadium...there were a lot of cougar fans in attendance). We were not disappointed. It was a great game that came down to the last 3 seconds but we were the victors in the end, 28-27!

It was such an exciting game that it put Ethan to sleep:>
We also had a surprise visit from Curtis and Kaylene who had come up from California for the game and then were off to Alaska!

Fun times, Go Cougs!

School spirit. Go team Lawlor!

I'm sorry to say that I didn't get a picture of Mike on his first day of school. He is taking a math class two nights a week. We are hoping he can start his Power Engineering program next year, if not sooner.

My only connection to school at this point is talking to my young women girls about how school is for them so far and helping them prepare for those life situations that are easier to deal with when you have decided before hand what you will do.

Enjoy our mugs. I know we aren't as cute as the kids but we have to try, right?
